On my recent trip to Chicago, I had the opportunity to use the gym at the hotel. At the gym, there were a number of magazines. I picked up one called Whole Living – basically a healthy living magazine (recipes, exercises, spiritual growth, stretching etc.)
I flipped through the pages while I completed my 50 mins on the elliptical. Some of the articles were interesting, but as a whole it did not really keep my attention. However, near the end of the magazine I came across a page entitled “10 Thoughts on Whole Living.” It was a list of simple ideas/concepts designed to help people live better, more fully.
Here is the list:
- You won’t know how fast you can go until you try.
- Changing the way you eat may be the most transformative action you can take.
- When you fully inhabit the moment, inspiration is likely to join you there.
- Nature can only work its healing magic if you immerse yourself in it.
- Blaming never fixes what you think it will.
- Don’t confuse what you think with who you are.
- Flowers, Herbs, Oil: Beauty begins with the simplest elements.
- The first step to good health care is making yourself heard.
- Financial ease comes from understanding what your money is doing for you – as well as to you.
- When you’re overloaded, fight the urge to work harder. Instead, slow down and reflect on what matters most.
Maybe one thing on the list will motivate you, or maybe they all will. I know that a couple speak to me, and will motivate me to live more fully.
Whole living takes gumption!
