See how I'm smiling in that picture on the left? I was in Hawaii for a good friend's wedding. Who wouldn't be smiling?! That is an expected smile. But see how I'm smiling in the picture on the right? See how my lips rise so high as to reveal my gums and how my eyes sparkle? That is an earned smile.
I used to look in the mirror and smile. Now I look in the mirror already smiling. Instead of seeing only what I have left to "fix" I anticipate seeing all of the changes I have already earned.
So let me ask again. Which smile are you wearing? The expected smile or the earned smile? Which smile would you rather be wearing?
