In May, I completed the Earthquakes first annual 5k with
a friend of mine from the gym. I initially
did not want to do this run, but was convinced, and glad that I ultimately
caved. Oddly enough this sparked a bit
of 5k fever as I signed up for the Giant’s 5k in September and am looking to
find another one to do in a few months.
The morning of the Earthquakes 5k was fairly cold, and I
never got truly warmed up for the event, alternating between short jogs and
longer walks. I completed it in just over
an hour, having walked the majority of the route.
After the 5k!
The Giants 5k in September will be different as I intend
to run/jog as much of the route as possible.
I have been training consistently, but we are really going to kick it up
a notch these next couple of weeks to ensure that I am ready to go come run
day. This past weekend I even did my
first outdoor 3 mile run/walk with my best friend in Seal Beach. It was a challenge since I am used to running
on a treadmill, but I felt accomplished afterward.
I never liked running, and I can’t say that I love it now
but it is tolerable. Plus, who knows,
last year at this time I loathed foam rolling and now I love it, so next year
at this time I might love running!
