After taking the bar exam, I stayed a few extra days in Colorado to do some exploring. I absolutely loved it there, and I did not even see much of it. The first day after the exam I had to take a mandatory ethics class which was kind of a drag, but went by pretty fast. Then I headed down to the 16th Street Mall, where I spent most of my time at this amazing bookstore called The Tattered Cover. It was this huge old building with wood floors and all these little nooks created by the intersecting bookcases. Everywhere you looked there were comfy couches or chairs to sit in and read. It was definitely my kind of place and if you are ever in Denver definitely check it out.
The next day on the suggestion of a friend I started my day of at a restaurant called “Snooze”. I had chocolate chip pancakes that were to die for. I can’t wait to go there again! Then I headed down town to check out the Denver Art Museum. I fell in love with this museum. The art is incredible, but the interactive elements really did it for me. There was this one exhibit on trash as art where you were able to make your own “trash art” and add it to the other pieces already on display.

In the western art gallery they had a station where you could make postcards using stamps that had images from the artwork. There were so many other wonderful things about this museum and I really only scratched the surface. After closing the museum, I headed back to where I was staying and picked up dinner. My friend’s mom and I had a great dinner and even better conversation about everything under the sun.
Beautiful Sunsets!
My trip to Denver was short, and taken up mostly by professional endeavors (taking the bar and the ethics class) but I am definitely looking forward to going back. I want to go in the summer when the weather is a bit warmer and I can see some of the great landscape, especially Red Rocks! I know I will be back there soon because either I passed the bar and will have to be sworn in in Colorado or I did not pass the bar and will re-take it … I am hoping for the former of course!
Travelling to somewhere you have never been and exploring a new city on your own takes gumption!
